A blister pack is one or three booster packs sealed onto a cardboard backing with a promo card showing through the plastic. They are the product you see hanging by the till, which is why the single-pack version is called a checklane blister. Each set gets a run of blisters with different promo cards, usually two single-pack designs and two three-pack designs.
The promo in a blister is a reprint or a stamped version of a card, rather than an exclusive, and the packs are standard packs from the set. Blisters suit someone who wants a pack or three with a card to keep, and they travel well because the backing protects the packs.
